November 2006 Originally a Connecticut Yankee, Ellen Kazimer is a graduate of Villanova University and was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy through Villanova's NROTC program. She received a Masters in Operations Research from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. While at the Naval Postgraduate School she met her husband, a West Point graduate. They were married in the same year Villanova won the NCAA men's basketball championship in a memorable game against Georgetown. After serving in the Navy for ten years, she resigned to devote time to her family while they moved from duty station to duty station. She has tutored middle school through high school students in math and taught adult education in mathematics. She is working on her NCEA certification through the University of Virginia. In her spare time she likes to write for children and young adults. Meeting regularly with her writing group, she is working on a young adult novel about growing up as Catholic immigrants during the years of the Know Nothing Party prior to the Civil War. Mrs. Kazimer and her husband have two children, a sophomore at Yale University and an eighth grader, as well as a pet dog. They are members of St. Mary of Sorrows parish. Mrs. Kazimer is a member of the curriculum committee for the DFE, and has worked to compile and analyze the Terra Nova test data. She also is the Math curriculum chairperson for the middle school grades, representing Saint Ambrose Catholic School at the Diocesan math meetings. We are so blessed to have her share creative and caring teaching style and wealth of knowledge with our Saint Ambrose Catholic School community. |
